Manuela Celi

Manuela Celi is Associate Professor at the Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano, and a leading scholar in Design Futures and anticipatory design. Her work focuses on developing methodologies and educational frameworks that enable cultural and creative industries to navigate complex and uncertain futures through design-driven innovation. As Principal Investigator of the Erasmus+ project FUEL4Design, she has contributed to advancing futures literacy in higher education by integrating speculative design, scenario building, and anticipatory practices into curricula. Her research bridges design, humanities, and technology, fostering transdisciplinary approaches to innovation in culture-intensive sectors. With extensive experience in European projects, international education programmes, and industry collaborations (including cultural heritage and creative production contexts), she contributes to the development of forward-looking skills, innovation capacities, and strategic foresight. Deputy Director of ASP – Alta Scuola Politecnica, the transdisciplinary honour programme jointly run by Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino, she advances transdisciplinary education by fostering collaboration across engineering, architecture, and design, and promoting systemic approaches to innovation.
